I found this pic on pinterest.... This is what I define as indie. I picked this picture because you do not see this fashion that often. I see indie as hippie or hipster, like one to not follow the crowd, but I think this type of hippie or hipster is becoming mainstream slowly. This fashion is becoming a little more common. If you think of hipster there is a lot of categories. I think this is one type of hipster/indie/hippie that is more common. Some hipster pull back from other times like this one is pulling back form the late 60s early 70s. There are also hipsters that are more greaser and 50's looking as well, you can see it in the mainstream media in actress Zoey Daschnell. There are also rockabilly hipsters that are somewhat like that mainstream band The Lumineers. However, I feel indie short for independent, could be a term used for any artist that is not signed to a major label or business. There can be independent hip hop or rock groups, but it is also a termed used loosely to identify a group of people.
